Behaviour
Ark Dickens Primary is a very special community where relationships between adults and children are at the core of everything we do. We are continually striving for excellence in all aspects of what we do as we fulfil our motto; ‘Be your best’.
The strength of the behaviour at our school is based on strong student-teacher relationships. All teachers understand the importance to develop effective relationships based on their knowledge and understanding of students and their specific abilities or needs. All teachers use seating plans to ensure all students engage equally in lessons.
We take our responsibilities regarding behaviour very seriously. Our duty is to educate our students to be adults who will contribute positively to society and knowing the ingredients of good behaviour and being able to enact them, is a major part of this.
Our approach can be seen in more detail in our Behaviour Policy.
Anti-bullying
Ark Dickens Primary School is committed to providing a supportive, caring, and safe environment in which all children are free from the fear of being bullied. As a school we take bullying and its impact seriously. Bullying of any form is not tolerated in our school, whether carried out by a child or an adult. Bullying behaviour is unacceptable in any form. The school has high expectations of outstanding behaviour, and we consistently challenge any behaviour that falls below this. Anyone who knows that bullying is happening is expected to tell a member of staff. Any child who is a victim of bullying will be dealt with in a sympathetic manner. If bullying is suspected or reported, the incident will be dealt with immediately by the member of staff informed, and then discussed with the head of school. A clear account of the incident will be recorded on the behaviour system log. All staff will be informed so that close monitoring of the victim and bully can begin. Parents of both parties will be informed.
Our approach can be seen in more detail in our anti-bullying policy.
