Year visit to Portsmouth Guildhall

On Monday 11th January, Year 6 visited Portsmouth Guildhall, to take part in a workshop about World War II. They watched a play and learnt about the Guildhall during the Blitz. It was interesting because the Guildhall was almost completely destroyed during the attack on Portsmouth in 1941. The children then looked at pictures which showed how the guildhall was rebuilt and the Queen officially opened it. The actors were amazing and the play included: smoke machines, search lights and a fake fire!

The teachers were invited to take part in a quiz which Mrs Tresidder won.  Before Year6 left, they looked at real artefacts from World War II and thought about the jobs that people would have had to do during the war.  All in all it was a very interesting day and the children enjoyed their visit.
