Year 5 become Greeks for the day
On Friday 27th November Year 5 all became Greeks for the day to enhance their learning experience relating to their Ancient Greeks topic.
The children learnt how to write their names using the Greek alphabet. They wrote a coded message to their work partners, swapped books and worked out each other's messages. Later that morning the children acted out a Greek story and had a Greek maths lesson.
After lunch the whole of Year 5 took part in a mini Olympics including running races, discus throwing (substituted by bean bags) and relay races.
And finally, to finish the day a Greek feast! Year 5 were able to sample olives, pitta bread, cured meats and cheeses.
